When we were growing up, things were not rosy at all. As usual for most average kids of our time. Life was just the regular way for a young chap growing up in an estate like Gowon. I had not much memories of the estate and so I can not remember any event for now, but we had some childhood experience to an extent. My mother, his mother, friends – that’s history and I do not want to bother you about that at the moment. His brothers and I grew up together while his second elder brother and I attended the same secondary school. His eldest brother, a big brother…bla bla bla blab bla bla….
But… what struck me most those times was the admiration I had for him. First, as a brother and then as a talent waiting to be unleashed. I am not a wizard to know his ability at that time, but I fore-knew his restlessness will get him some where I do not even know myself. And for almost the better part of our childhood days, I was away. And occasionally when home, we meet and gossip. At that point, I knew he was improving somehow… somehow I do not know and could not phantom.
He studied theatre arts and I think he is fast becoming a joker. I never knew he is just trying to be what he needed to be. And that is who he wanted to be, an Entertainer. And it was not too long that I discovered that his restlessness is not only pushing him, but working for him. One night, after visiting my friend, his brother and was heading home when I was informed that he was around. It was too late for me since I had been around for a while and besides, night was fast calling. So I told his brother we will have another time together the next morning. In my mind, I was not actually having another time with my friend but I was looking forward to meeting TOMIWA.
And over the night, I seemed to be revolving or rather basking in an euphoria of meeting someone, not that I have not met him or been around him before, but to know whether the picture of what I had in mind and that I have been carrying in my head could be true after all. And so the night was longer than usual. That I did not know why but all in all, morning finally came calling after counting and over-counting the number of my ceiling divides over and over again.
…In my night outfit, I quickly jumped out of my bed and headed for Tomiwa’s house. After exchanging pleasantries with every one, we got into a deep talk which was fun. It wasn’t long that we got talking when I finally found out all that I have waited a long time to know. He is intelligent, brilliant and full of ideas. Bright and adventurous, willing to take any risk and focused. Fun to be with and caring. Understanding and God fearing. Well schooled, socialy concious and seem to have graced most entertainment stage I can ever think of lately, I mean shows in any part of the country.

Its no lie, TOMIWA is one entertainer you should watch out for{I call him an entertainer because he does a lot of entertaining things:rap,write,act,organise,create concepts,comperes&host shows and events,does stand-up comedy...i could go on and on with all the things he does and he is good at them in fact he is "a creative workshop"} and a friend you should have. He is 24 years old and the TOMIWA is probably the youngest in the country doing comedy. A friend once told me, even though I have confirmed my self, that his comedy prowess is un-match-able if not ground breaking. Sageblack{his stage name} who recently thrilled audience at the just concluded "Laffmatazz with Gbenga Adeyinka and Friends" graduated from the University of Ibadan where he studied Theatre Arts. I think I have said that earlier. When asked how he joined the Comedy industry he said "I don't know how I joined. I just noticed that whenever I talk, people laugh, way back from high school. One day a friend persuaded me to Mc her birthday and from there someone else asked that I do the same thing for him. E no tey. I begin ask for money and when I got to the University I started doing my own comedy concert. Laff "n" Craze". He also has a passion for rap and is looking forward to making a rap album in the nearest future. When asked if it has become a trend for most comedians to now sing he responded quickly and defended it? "No. I don't think they just want to do it because they can. its a passion. I had always wanted to be a rapper. I grew up with Hip-hop. I have tried to leave it but I can't". The young producer of the annual comedy concert in the University of Ibadan "Laff "n" Craze hope to establish himself amongst the likes of Ali Baba Basket Mouth Julius Agwu and co. His role models in comedy he says re "I like Chris Rock, Carling,Basket Mouth, Alli Baba Lepacious Bose, Kevin Hart, Dave Chapel and a host of others".
Knowing how hard it is in the entertainment industry now, we asked him how he hopes to survive and he said his uniqueness and originality will stand him out "Nigeria is a funny country. You hear about a lot of funny things in this country daily I wonder how (comedians) are surviving. So I look at these things and make materials out of them." He concluded.
