Saidi Balogun storms out of ceremony after losing ‘Best Director’ award...

Nollywood actor, Saheed Balogun, shocked the press and many of his fans on Sunday, March 30, 2014, when he stormed of the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards after he discovered he did not win the ‘Best Director’ award. The actor/director was nominated for the movie ‘Alami Ayemi’, alongside Abiodun Olanrewaju, Niji Akanni and Kunle Afod but lost to to Akanni who directed the movie ‘Aramotu’. Balogun stalked out of the Civic Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, visibly angry. He turned down interview requests from journalists and didn’t bother waving back to fans who chanted his name. ‘I’m very disappointed in this guy,’ one of his fans blurted out while others looked on with expressions of shock, anger and disgust. Until the announcement of the winner, he had been chatty. You win some and you lose some. Well, better luck next time! ...

Singer Zara Gretti passed away on March 28, 2014, in her Ogba home, Ikeja, Lagos. The singer, her family tells us, died in the morning, minutes after going into a coma. ‘When we noticed she was unconscious, we called for an ambulance which took her to the hospital. This is where they confirmed she had died,’ a family member disclosed to NET. Zara was taken to a private medical hospital, Isalu Hospital, which is a walking distance from her house. Upon visiting the hospital, a staff member confirmed to NET that Zara was indeed brought there. ‘Yes I remember her, she was brought in dead’, one hospital staff who asked not to be named told us. Burial arrangements are yet to be announced....
